The alps, from the little prop plane we took from Munich to Trieste (these pictures hardly do them justice - Colorado has mountains; these are MOUNTAINS.)

A panorama of the alps across the medeterranean from us. Once again, the scale is poorly rendered here, but the combination of giant mountains with lots of water is Awesome.

Tartini, Piran's local hero (a composer and violinist), who stands above the main square (more of an oval, really).

The angel atop St. George's Cathedral.

looking up at the city wall from St. Georges Cathedral.

Looking down into Tartini square from said cathedral.

Piran, Slovenia. (from the city wall)

We can climb these turrets!

That lightning-rod-clutching angel again.

Slovenian graffiti. LOL

The town hall, just off Tartini square

What's beyond the awesome castle wall? A soccer field!

Probably the most beautiful cemetary I've ever seen. (it's much more extensive than this picture shows.) Incredibly colorful, crazy amounts of marble carvings, all different shapes and sizes.

Might have to wait for the high-res monitor to appreciate this completely, but there's a spider web in this corner and it looked really cool in the dying sunlight that sillhouetted the castle.

Looking towards Italy (you can see it in front of the alps in other pics).

Looking the other direction at sunset. The piece of land in the background is part of Croatia.
